Thank You Charles Britton

Last Thursday was another fun night at the Rotary Club.  We welcomed a new member, yes, even in October.  Sue Louisignau will no longer need to be introduced as a guest.  Welcome Sue, here’s the People Power Sign Up Sheet.

The author, Charles Britton, from Southport was our speaker.  Reports are that he gave an interesting and entertaining program.  Charles is from this area and went to school here. After working out of state in the educational field he retired to Southport and began writing books. His books can be found at Sherman’s Bookstore under the pen name of C.W. Wells.

I missed Charles because I was at the Chamber of Commerce Annual Dinner rooting for our own Tory Paxson, who was nominated for a Chamber of Commerce award.  She was not this year’s Chamber winner, but we sure feel like we are the winners to have her as our President.  We Win!

We have a quick program change this week as our planned speaker had a conflict and had to cancel.  Come to the meeting and find out what the Program Committee came up with.

Don’t forget People Power….

The Interact Club met Tuesday and mailed 110 invitations to local Veterans for our Veterans Dinner scheduled for November 9th.  The Interact Club members will be there to help.  But, we’ll need all your help too.  Of Course, if you are a veteran and a Rotarian, being a veteran comes first on that night.  So, just come and let us wait on you and thank you for your service to this amazing country we live in.

Thursday, October 26th, is our annual Halloween Party.  Don’t be afraid, spooky, or scary, but do get your costume ready.  The Interact Club will be carving pumpkins outside, while we’re meeting.  Then, they will join us for the costume parade.  Bruce Harris and Sarah Clark (Deb’s daughter) are the Interact Act Club leaders this year again.  We are very lucky to have their enthusiastic and fun leadership for our local High School Rotary Club.  It’s one important way we grow Rotary.

A big thank you to Eric Wilts, who picked up twelve filled propane tanks from Ames Supply and delivered them to the Boothbay VETS project last week.  Ames supply sells us these tanks for the VETS Trailers at their cost, so we only pay around $750.00 for them.  Thank you Ames Supply for your support.  But, it is mostly the hard work and fun at the Rotary Barn that allows us to support projects like the VETS Trailers.  So, join us on a Saturday morning.  There is always plenty to do.  Sofa testing seems to be the most popular.

We’re hoping to keep the Rotary Barn open again till December, BRRR, so if you have any donations just text Deb Graves at 207-380-3880.
