St. Patty's Day and Local Prohibition
The BBH Rotary Club’s St Patty’s Day party last Thursday welcomed in Spring as we continue to welcome a return to in person meetings.  Shamrocks, pots of gold, green tablecloths and yellow flowers made our clubhouse springlike and festive.  But, it was all the conversation and laughter that really made the evening special.  Our own Chip Griffin offered an interesting historical perspective on the back and forth eras of prohibition in the Boothbay area.

President Elect Bruce Harris
This week Bruce Harris, our President Elect, will share some ideas and impressions of his recent PETS training in preparation for becoming Club President this coming year.  The training is all via Zoom now, so Bruce was able to attend training and still root for his daughter during her swim meet in Bath.  Times have changed.  We are so fortunate to have Bruce as our next President and look forward to his PETS recap.

Our Next Meeting
As per our new usual we will share a buffet dinner around 6:00 PM with our program starting around 6:30. Join us for conversation, good food, and laughter.

Paul Zalucky on the Ukraine
The following week, March 31st, we will be hosting Paul Zalucky.  He will talk to us about the Crisis in Ukraine.  Mr Zalucky had an extensive career in the CIA which included the position of Senior Officer in Kyiv, Ukraine.  Since his retirement he continues to serve as a consultant focusing on business in Central and Eastern Europe.  He was recently interviewed by the Boothbay Register staff.  We are looking forward to his visit.

Barn Reopening
The Big Gray Rotary Barn will be opening for its third season Saturday April 2, 8:30-11:00 am.  Co-chairs Deb and Laurie have been working hard getting things ready and organizing our members; remember the saying “Like Herding Cats”.  The barn looks great and hosts an assortment of new gently used furniture, household goods, tools and collectibles.  We have started pickups again, call Deb Graves at 207-380-3550 to arrange.  We have a beautiful, big new parking lot.  Please don’t park on the road anymore.

Ukraine Support
The Board of Directors met last week.  We voted on financial support for several local programs including the BRES Student Leadership project of gathering and sending supplies for children on the Romanian-Ukrainian border.  This is all made possible with sales from the Barn, which means from our neighbors and this generous community.
