Pumpkin Carving

After the awful tragedy in Lewiston last week, our hearts go out to the families and individuals affected by this horrific event. We are all shaken and saddened, but it has surely made us hold our friends and families closer, and thankful for the support system created by our Rotarian friends. We are truly each other’s most precious gift. We canceled last week’s meeting in light of the tragic events that were still unfolding, but we return this week together.

Thankfully the Interact Pumpkin Carving party was rescheduled for Sunday evening.  As the following photos show, fun was had by all.

Join us this Thursday in our amazing clubhouse with all of you who work together to make a better world, while having fun connecting with each other. We will be welcoming our District Governor, Marion Cheney.

Marion Cheney is a member of the Dover, NH Club. (Yes, our district goes that far south (and west).  She has been a Rotarian for thirty-three years, but if you look at her picture she must have joined when she was three. She is a respected realtor, member of the Dover Ethics Commission and the Dover Chamber of Commerce. In keeping with this year’s rotary theme of “Create Hope in The World,” Marion’s focus is on Mental Health and Peace. Peace is the soil that grows hope, she writes. We could certainly use more hope and peace. We look forward to welcoming her to our club.

The following week, November 9th, is our Veteran’s Dinner.  So far, we have received about 40 RSVP postcards, mailed by the Interact Club, from Veterans planning to attend, so it should be a full, fun, and meaningful night.  Tom and Monica Churchill have a special program in the works. The Interact Club initiated this event, so please come and support their wish to honor all our Veterans and Active Service members in our community.

The Rotary Barn will hopefully be open till mid-December, every Saturday morning from 8:30-11:00.

If you’re interested in the fun and work of Rotary, then join us any Thursday at 6:00 at our clubhouse at 66 Montgomery Road, Boothbay Harbor, ME  04538. We will enjoy meeting you.
