Bob Jacobson
I am very sad to report that Bob Jacobson died Monday, January 17, 2022. Bob lived a very rich life and was an active Rotarian for three decades.
Bob was born in Boston and grew up in Milton, MA. After a career in the Air Force and with IBM, he and his wife Muriel moved to Boothbay Harbor in 1989.
He joined Rotary in the 1992-93 Rotary year and remained a Rotarian for the remaining thirty years of his life. Shortly after joining he became Secretary. His sense of humor and love of stories led to his being named Rotarian of the Week (a tradition which lasted only the 1997-98 year). His storytelling continued to shine at meetings for several years with his colorful Darwin Award Tales.
During his time in Rotary, he served as Secretary, Director of International Service, Foundation Committee Chair, and in 1999-2000, President. In that year the club won the Significant Achievement Award, Governor’s Award for Foundation Support, Special Membership Award, and the Presidential Citation. His wife Muriel joined Rotary at that time. Both became Paul Harris Fellows, and Bob was a Foundation Benefactor. Bob, along with Marty Peak Helman, are the only Boothbay Harbor Rotarians to serve as District Governor.
Please join me in extending condolences to his family.
