Wonderful Re-opening Party

Our wonderful clubhouse deck and lawn re-opening party last Thursday was just perfect.  We were blessed with a perfect summer evening, temperature just right and a light breeze.   The tables of delicious appetizers, made by Amy Ronan,  were decorated with colorful rhododendrons from our backyard. The “Turpentine Club” was open, but the most perfect thing was seeing all of us together after such a long hiatus.  Around forty members, friends and family celebrated together, even sharing hugs and handshakes.  It sure had been too long.

So, let’s do it again this Thursday.  But, this time the clubhouse will be open along with the deck.  We’ll start at 5:30 again for appetizers and social time.  Laurie Z has also offered to give us an update on the Rotary Barn project.  This will include the grand total to date.  Come and be amazed and excited about this project.

We just can’t thank Auction Co-Chairs Laurie and Deb enough for rising to the challenges of the Pandemic.  Taking those dark times, regrouping and turning our primary fundraiser into a more manageable and productive event.  And, still making it fun to participate.  So, you too, can have fun at the Rotary Barn.  We’re open every Saturday morning from 8:00 to 11:30.   There’s always a lot to do, opening donation boxes, moving furniture, greeting customers while enjoying the company and laughter of your fellow Rotarians.  What better way is there to spend your Saturday morning.

A special thank you to Deb, who is managing all the Rotary Club Barn donation requests.  We live in a wonderful community and have very generous neighbors who make this project possible.  If you would like to donate contact Deb at 207-380-3550.

Onions, Onions!!  We sold 130 bags of onions this year.  That’s a lot of “good eating”.  Treasurer, Bill Prince is enjoying his onions, but is also looking forward to getting payment for them.  So, get out and deliver those onions and get your payment checks into Bill right away.

Remember “People Power”.  Oh yes, you all say.  We’re planning to meet at the clubhouse every Thursday again.  It sure beats meeting on “Zoom”.   But, meeting in person means “People Power” again.  After many years as “People Power” chairperson Foster has passed the baton on to Jim H. Thank you so much Foster for keeping us organized for so long.  So, we’ll need waiters, stewards, innkeepers, scribes, etc again.  Soon you’ll find sign-ups on line, but we’ll still be passing sign up sheets around at meetings.  Thank you all for pitching in.

Look forward to seeing you Thursday at the Rotary Clubhouse.
