The Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club and the Boothbay Register are collaborating on a photo contest and subsequent photo book entitled, “A Year in the Life of the Boothbay Region,” featuring donated photographs from area photographers celebrating the year-round activities that highlight how we live our lives, celebrate our community and enjoy our beautiful surrounds.

The contest and book are a Rotary fundraiser for the Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund.

FINALLY!

The book has gone to print and it looks wonderful! Copies will be available in about four weeks. Look for a front page article in the Register announcing locations where the book can be purchased. It will be a perfect Christmas present! (10/7 entry)

“A Year in the Life of the Boothbay Region” is now on sale

The fundraising book, “A Year in the Life of the Boothbay Region,” the Region in Pictures by Local Photographers is now on sale – just in time for the holiday season.

Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Boothbay Harbor and the Boothbay Register and being sold as a fundraiser for the Boothbay Region Student Aid Fund, the 68-page book contains over 100 full-color photographs submitted by 50 area photographers, including Boothbay Register staff members.

Printed at Penmor Lithographers in Lewiston, “A Year in the Life of the Boothbay Region” is being sold for $18.95 plus tax. Copies may be purchased at Sherman’s Book and Stationery Store in Boothbay Harbor, at the Boothbay Register office, or by calling Rotarian Jim Singer at 633-5561.

Divided into sections, the book was designed by Register artist Suzi Thayer. The book’s sections include: Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring, Sunsets, The People, The Events, And The Rest. Accompanying each photograph is a brief cutline and the photographer’s name. The cover photograph features a colorful, summertime scene of property on Pratt’s Island Road, Southport taken by Register editor Kevin Burnham.

Submissions for the book were sought through announcements at Rotary meetings and through articles in the Register and on the Register’s website. The photographs collected by email beginning in February. Each photographer was asked to submit up to five photographs “celebrating the year-round activities that highlight how we live our lives, celebrate our community and enjoy our beautiful surrounds.” Over 300 photographs were submitted and, because the collection didn’t include many event photos, Rotary utilized the Register’s vast collection of event photos to complete the book.

Besides Burnham, other photographers featured in the book include (in alphabetical order): Peter Arnold, John Bald, Courtney Brewer, Pam Burge, Terry Burrows, Billy Cirullo, Susan Cirullo, Katrina Clark, Robert Colburn, Leah Elizabeth Cook, Fleet Davies, Paul DiMascio, Gary Dow, John Edwards, Jerry Freedman, Susie Giles, Marty Helman, Karen Iuzzolino, Elissa Ebeling Kaufer, Lila Kirkwood, Michael Kosciusko, Kathleen Lavalley, Michael Leonard, Adam Maguire, Jennifer Maguire, Joan McGee, Sue Mello, Helen Meserve, Caren Minzy, Joe Orchulli II, Ruth Perry, Pam Pierce, David Pope, Candy Prince, Diane Randlett, Ed Riley, Jonathan Rundell, Jay Searle, Mary Ellen Serina, Jim Singer, Annette Stormont, Jim Stormont, Dwight Swisher, Karen Swisher, James Taliana, Vic Taylor, Lee Thompson, Holly O’Neal Turley and Sandra Whitehead.
