Album Name: Hometown Heroes 2009 Return to Albums
Album Date: Sep 17, 2009
Description: Hometown Heroes is our club's response to 9/11: We invite all our local First Responders -- police, fire, EMT, communications and Coast Guard -- plus their families for an indoor picnic of burgers and dogs. In 2009 our own Christin and Chelsie were among the special awardees, because they each responded with quick thinking and rapid action in a time of crisis.

So many options, so little time. Sue and Billy, cousins. All our first responders are here, from local volunteer fire fighters to Lt. Madden of the Maine state police. Sparky the Fire Dog is a great attraction for the kids. The kids love the inflatable jumping cage.
Lincoln gets ready to bounce. Sparky the Fire Dog, courtesy of True North! David does wonders at the grill -- and has to work hard to keep ahead of the crowd. Kim creates steam heat, while Bob kibbitzes. Finally, it's time to dig in.
A true connoisseur, Doug examines the dogs. You have to eat your firsts before you come back for seconds, guys. The Coast Guard turns out in force, always ready. You're never too young to enjoy a picnic! MC Daren addresses the crowd.
Police Chief Bob Hasch presents some special awards to some special people. Chief Bob Hasch poses with special award recipients Bridget Spofford, Christin Bailey and Chelsie Graves. Our own Christin and Chelsie are each honored for their quick thinking which avoided what could have been serious incidents. Fire Chief Dickie Spofford, shown here with Chip, is credited for his leadership during the Washburn and Doughty fire, which brought 150 responders from all over Lincoln County to bring under control. Al Roberts, lay minister and local personality, relaxes after his presentation.
