Bicycles for International Workers
The seasonal economy of the Boothbay Region couldn't happen without numerous international employees who live in our community just for a few months in the summer, and then return to their native lands. Many of these workers have no transportation or means to get to the grocery store or to do their errands, a problem compounded by the fact that some of the resorts where they live and work are "off the beaten track."
In response, the Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club collects used bicycles and distributes them to these international employees. Here, Rotarian Seth Hedgcock collects and refurbishes bicycles for redistribution, and Costa Rica's Rolando Mora Segura shows off his new wheels.
If you would like to donate a bicycle to an international worker, please click on "Contact Us" and let us know of your donation as well as where we can pick them up.
